When our faculty-led trip to Amsterdam planned for March 2020 was cancelled due to the COVID-19 crisis, my students and I were incredibly disappointed. But we were so grateful when AEA arranged for us to have a virtual session with Yuri Olrichs, a sex educator and sexologist with Rutgers International.
Speaking to us from his home in Amsterdam, Yuri shared with us how Rutgers' staff create curricular materials used by teachers across the Netherlands and throughout Europe in educating students about sexuality and sexual health.
We learned so much from his wisdom and experience, which gave us new models for thinking about how to improve approaches to sexuality education and sexual health outcomes here in the States. While we would have liked to have visited Rutgers International and observed sexuality education in Amsterdam classrooms, Yuri's virtual session was the next best thing.
Thanks so much with all of your help with our trip and for your efforts to create these great virtual learning opportunities.
